Miraculously I find myself without family obligations for Thanksgiving, so my squeeze and I are thinking of simply treating ourselves to a nice meal. Has anybody got a recommendation for a lovely Thanksgiving dinner in the Oakland/Berkeley/Emeryville area?

Mon, November 19, 2007 - 10:59 AMthe claremont wasn't bad...it was a few years ago (with our son due less than two weeks later), but I don't expect their quality has faultered...it's a big ole buffet similar to a classy brunch on the weekends, but also includes some traditional tday fare.

Alas, it is not listed on their website but I saw it posted a week or two back on their sidewalk bulletin board...looks like one has to call for the seasonal dinner menus. -

Mon, December 3, 2007 - 2:14 PMis Lalimes any good?
We went there once and it was amazing.
We went back a year later and was really poor for the type of restaurant it claimed to be.
We haven't been back in 5 years and never see it on any best of lists. -

Re: OT: Lalime's
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 4:07 PMIt has been worth the money on the few occasions I've eaten there. Many restaurants are subject to the whims of their chef-du-jour. I'm guessing you got blind-sided by that on the occasion where you weren't happy. Call the restaurant and ask about which chefs are cooking on which days and what they're respective specialties are...if they can't explain it, then don't go.
